Hydroseeding & Erosion Control Pricing

General pricing guidance for residential and commercial hydroseeding across North and South Carolina. Every project is different, so final pricing depends on site conditions, specifications, materials, access, and mobilization.

Residential Hydroseeding

$0.10–$0.25per sq. ft.

Residential pricing depends on project size, soil preparation, access, seed mixture, slopes, and site conditions.

Typical Range

Commercial pricing is typically calculated by the acre and varies based heavily on temporary vs. permanent stabilization, materials, specifications, acreage, access, and mobilizations.

These ranges are general pricing guidelines. Actual project pricing may fall above or below these ranges depending on site conditions, specifications, materials, project size, and mobilization requirements.

How Much Does Residential Hydroseeding Cost?

Residential Hydroseeding: $0.10–$0.25 per square foot. Most residential hydroseeding projects fall somewhere within this general range.

Larger, open areas with properly prepared soil are generally closer to the lower end of the range, while smaller, difficult-access, sloped, or preparation-heavy projects may be closer to the higher end. This is a general range and not a guaranteed quote. See our residential hydroseeding service page for more on what's included.

How Much Does Commercial Hydroseeding Cost Per Acre?

Commercial Hydroseeding: Typically $2,500–$4,000 per acre. Prime typically prices commercial hydroseeding by the acre rather than by the square foot. This range is a general guideline; actual pricing depends on the project's specifications.

Temporary Stabilization Hydroseeding

Used during construction to quickly establish vegetative cover and reduce erosion. Temporary applications may fall toward the lower end of the commercial pricing range when specifications are straightforward and acreage is large and accessible, though every project prices from its own plans and specifications.

Pricing Depends On

  • Temporary seed mixture
  • Seed rate
  • Mulch type and rate
  • Fertilizer requirements
  • Tackifier
  • Acreage
  • Site access
  • Mobilizations
  • Project specifications

Permanent Stabilization Hydroseeding

Establishes the project's final vegetative cover and often has more detailed material and application requirements. Permanent applications may fall toward the middle or upper end of the commercial pricing range depending on the specified materials, and highly specified or difficult applications can exceed the typical $2,500–$4,000 per-acre range.

Pricing Depends On

  • Permanent seed mixture
  • Seed rate
  • Mulch or HECP specification
  • Fertilizer
  • Lime
  • Soil amendments
  • Slopes
  • Accessibility
  • Water availability
  • Mobilizations
  • DOT or engineered specifications

Why Pricing Varies

Why Can Commercial Hydroseeding Cost Vary So Much?

Two projects with the same acreage may require completely different quantities of seed, mulch, fertilizer, lime, tackifier, labor, and mobilization.

For example: a large, open temporary stabilization project with standard seed and mulch may price very differently from a permanent stabilization project requiring specialty seed, higher mulch rates, HECP, fertilizer, lime, steep slope work, or multiple mobilizations.

Does Hydroseeding Cost Less Per Acre on Larger Projects?

Often, yes. Larger continuous areas can have a lower effective cost per acre because equipment setup, mobilization, and crew costs are spread over more acreage. Small acreage projects, scattered areas, phased work, or repeated mobilizations may result in higher per-acre pricing.
